Iridium provides true global coverage with voice and data. Data rates are relatively low at only 2400 bps. Rates are more expensive from $1.00 to $1.50 per minute depending on the plan.

Unless you plan to always talk outside, you will need as special marine antenna and cable that mounts outside so it has a full view of the sky. You will also need a data kit which ag up of your laptop directly to the phone.

Plan on spending around $2,000 for an installation. There are bundles available that include the phone, marine antenna, data kit, and 500 minutes.
